Lacunza
Lacunza has been casting fireplaces in the Basque Country since 1954. Where most manufacturers use a steel body with cast-iron parts, Lacunza casts the body and the inners, which is why their stoves hold heat long after the fire has died down and why a 30-year-old Lacunza is still a working fireplace. The South African range runs from the compact Sagra through the Atlantic and Silver families to the Itaca sliding-door inserts and the Verona double-sided units, plus a line of wood-fired cooking ovens. Supplied through Signi Fires with a 10-year warranty.

freestanding stoves
8–12 kWAtlantic 503
The compact Atlantic — full cast iron, smaller footprint
R 27 895
The entry point into the Atlantic family. A fully cast-iron freestanding stove that suits smaller living rooms and cottages without giving up the heat retention that makes cast iron worth having.

freestanding stoves
Best Seller8–16 kWAtlantic 603
85% efficient — the benchmark cast-iron stove
R 33 895
The Atlantic 603 is the model most VlamHaus customers end up choosing. 85% efficiency, a wide viewing glass and a cast-iron body that radiates heat long after the last log has burned down.

freestanding stoves
8–16 kWAtlantic 613
Taller, wider glass, same cast-iron core
R 39 895
A taller version of the 603 with a larger glass area that puts more of the fire on show. The extra height also lifts the firebox to a more comfortable viewing level in rooms with higher seating.

freestanding stoves
8–16 kWAtlantic 613R
Corner-facing glass for awkward rooms
R 44 895
The 613R turns the Atlantic into a corner unit, with angled glass that works where a flat-fronted stove would waste the view. A neat answer to rooms where the obvious fireplace wall is already taken.

freestanding stoves
7–13 kWAdour 800 CLD Freestanding
Corner glass to the right, fans included
R 63 895
A freestanding cast-iron insert with glass on the front and right-hand side, so the fire reads from two directions. Fans are included as standard to push warm air into the room rather than letting it stack at the ceiling.

freestanding stoves
7–13 kWAdour 800 CLI Freestanding
Corner glass to the left, fans included
R 63 895
The mirror of the CLD — front and left-hand glass. Choosing between CLD and CLI comes down to which way your room opens up, and it is worth getting right before the hearth is built.

freestanding stoves
3-Sided7–13 kWAdour 800 CLID Freestanding
Three-sided glass — fire as the centrepiece
R 73 895
Glass on three sides turns the Adour into a room divider rather than a wall feature. It is the version to specify when the fireplace sits between a lounge and a dining area and needs to work from both.

freestanding stoves
6–12 kWBiarritz
Classic cast iron, honest heat
R 36 895
A traditionally proportioned cast-iron stove with body and inners both cast — the construction that lets a fireplace outlive the house it was installed in. Understated enough to sit in a period home without argument.

freestanding stoves
9–17 kWCalais
81% efficient with fans as standard
R 54 895
A tall, narrow freestanding unit built for open-plan spaces where floor area is precious. Fans come included, and at 81% efficiency very little of your firewood goes up the flue.

freestanding stoves
8–14 kWGarde
Clean-lined freestanding heat
R 56 895
The Garde keeps the detailing minimal — a plain steel-and-cast body and a big square of glass. It suits contemporary interiors where a traditionally styled stove would look out of place.

freestanding stoves
Wall-Hung7–13 kWParis 800 CLID Mural
Wall-hung with three-sided glass
R 64 895
The Paris hangs off the wall rather than standing on the floor, which frees the hearth entirely and makes a small room feel considerably larger. Three-sided glass and fans are included.

freestanding stoves
Best Value6–12 kWSagra
87.5% efficient — the value entry into Lacunza
R 19 995
The most affordable way into the Lacunza range, and quietly one of the most efficient stoves in it. If the budget will not stretch to an Atlantic, the Sagra is the honest recommendation.

freestanding stoves
6–12 kWSilver 700 Freestanding
The compact Silver, on the floor
R 41 895
The smallest of the Silver freestanding trio. Cast-iron construction throughout, with the option of a wood storage box or bench base to lift it to a more comfortable height.

freestanding stoves
7–13 kWSilver 800 Freestanding
The mid Silver — the one most homes want
R 46 995
The 800 hits the sweet spot for a typical Gauteng living room: enough output for an open-plan space, without overheating a normal lounge. Sits beautifully on the matching 1200 mm bench.

freestanding stoves
8–14 kWSilver 1000 Freestanding
The wide-format Silver
R 52 895
A metre of cast iron and glass. The 1000 is the one to specify for double-volume rooms and open-plan homes where a smaller stove would be working flat out all winter.

freestanding stoves
6–12 kWTarbes
Cast iron with a cooking plate on top
R 45 895
A traditional cast-iron stove with a top cooking surface — genuinely useful in a farmhouse or holiday home where load-shedding is a fact of life. An optional glass top lets you watch the flames from above.

freestanding stoves
Double Sided11–20 kWVerona 800 Double Sided
See-through fire between two rooms
R 74 895
Glass front and back, so the fire is shared between two spaces. The Verona is the unit we specify when a lounge and dining room need to feel connected but still read as separate rooms.

freestanding stoves
Flagship12–22 kWVerona 1000 Double Sided
The biggest double-sided in the range
R 79 895
A metre of see-through fire and up to 22 kW of output — the largest freestanding unit Lacunza builds for South Africa. Specified correctly, it will heat an entire open-plan ground floor.

built in inserts
7–13 kWAdour 800 CLD Insert
Built-in with front and right-hand glass
R 59 895
The built-in version of the Adour CLD, designed to disappear into a wall so only the fire and its frame are visible. Fans are included to move the heat into the room rather than into the chimney breast.

built in inserts
7–13 kWAdour 800 CLI Insert
Built-in with front and left-hand glass
R 59 895
Mirror of the CLD. Which hand you need depends on how the room is entered — worth deciding before the opening is bricked up, because it cannot be changed afterwards.

built in inserts
3-Sided7–13 kWAdour 800 CLID Insert
Three-sided glass, fully built in
R 69 895
Three sides of glass set into a wall or peninsula. This is the specification for a fireplace that has to be architectural — visible from the lounge, the dining room and the passage between them.

built in inserts
10–13 kWAroa 700 Insert
Slim 25 mm frame, convection box included
R 34 895
The Aroa ships with a four-sided 25 mm frame and a convection box, which keeps the installed look tight to the wall. A sensible choice for a renovation where the opening is already close to the right size.

built in inserts
Flagship9–17 kWItaca 1000
Vertical sliding door — the showpiece insert
R 134 995
The door lifts vertically like a guillotine rather than swinging open, so the fire can be run open or closed without a door intruding into the room. The most impressive unit Lacunza makes, and priced accordingly.

built in inserts
Widest10–18 kWItaca 1200
1.2 m of sliding-door fire
R 149 995
The widest insert in the Lacunza range. At 1.2 m the Itaca stops being a fireplace and becomes the architecture of the room — plan the wall around it, not the other way round.

built in inserts
7–15 kWLoire 800 Insert
Clean rectangular insert, fans included
R 59 895
A straightforward landscape insert with a wide, low glass and no decorative detailing to date it. Fans are included, which matters in a built-in unit where warm air would otherwise sit in the chimney breast.

built in inserts
8–14 kWLoire 1000 Insert
A metre wide, 80.5% efficient
R 65 895
The wide Loire, taking logs up to 90 cm — long enough that a single load will comfortably see out an evening. One of the most efficient inserts in the range at 80.5%.

built in inserts
10–12 kWMidi 700 Insert
Cast-iron insert with a 50 mm frame
R 37 895
A compact cast-iron insert supplied with a four-sided 50 mm frame and fans. The generous frame is forgiving on a renovation where the existing opening is not perfectly square.

built in inserts
6–12 kWSilver 700 Insert
The compact Silver, built in
R 41 895
Cast-iron insert supplied with a four-sided 50 mm frame. The 700 suits a standard lounge where a bigger unit would simply be overkill.

built in inserts
Best Seller7–13 kWSilver 800 Insert
The default built-in Lacunza
R 46 995
If you want a Lacunza built into the wall and are not sure which, this is where the conversation usually starts. Cast iron throughout, a 50 mm frame included, and output matched to a normal South African living room.

built in inserts
8–14 kWSilver 1000 Insert
The wide built-in Silver
R 52 895
A metre-wide cast-iron insert for double-volume and open-plan rooms. Supplied with a four-sided 50 mm frame; add the fan set if the unit is going into a deep chimney breast.

built in inserts
Double Sided12.5–14.5 kWNickel 800 Double Sided
See-through insert, two frames included
R 64 895
A double-sided built-in that opens onto two rooms, supplied with a 50 mm frame for each side. 15 kW nominal makes it a genuine heating unit rather than just a feature.

built in inserts
Double Sided15–17 kWNickel 1000 Double Sided
The wide see-through insert
R 69 895
A metre of double-sided fire built into a dividing wall, with 17 kW nominal output behind it. Both frames are included; the opening needs planning early because the unit is deep.

cooking ovens
Cooks7 kWAltea
Fireplace and oven in one, 87% efficient
R 56 895
A freestanding stove with a proper baking oven built into it. The Altea heats the room and cooks dinner off the same fire — genuinely practical in a holiday home or anywhere the power is unreliable.

cooking ovens
Cooks11.5 kWOslo
The large fireplace-oven — 87.6% efficient
R 64 895
The bigger of the two combination units, with 11.5 kW nominal output and the highest efficiency figure in the Lacunza range. Room heating and cooking without compromising either.

cooking ovens
9 kWEtna 7T 90 cm
Dedicated 90 cm wood-fired cooking oven
R 134 895
A full 90 cm wood-fired cooking range rather than a stove that happens to bake. Cast-iron top plates, a thermostat on the oven, and enough heat left over to warm the kitchen it stands in.

cooking ovens
Flagship10 kWVulcano 7T 90 cm
85% efficient 90 cm cooking range
R 159 895
The flagship of the cooking range — 90 cm wide, 85% efficient and 10 kW of output. Specified for farmhouse kitchens and lodges where the stove is expected to run all day through winter.
