Lacunza Atlantic 603 cast-iron stove alight in a darkened living room

Since 1954

Lacunza

Lacunza has been casting fireplaces in the Basque Country since 1954. Where most manufacturers use a steel body with cast-iron parts, Lacunza casts the body and the inners, which is why their stoves hold heat long after the fire has died down and why a 30-year-old Lacunza is still a working fireplace. The South African range runs from the compact Sagra through the Atlantic and Silver families to the Itaca sliding-door inserts and the Verona double-sided units, plus a line of wood-fired cooking ovens. Supplied through Signi Fires with a 10-year warranty.

Atlantic 503

The compact Atlantic — full cast iron, smaller footprint

R 27 895

The entry point into the Atlantic family. A fully cast-iron freestanding stove that suits smaller living rooms and cottages without giving up the heat retention that makes cast iron worth having.

Atlantic 603

85% efficient — the benchmark cast-iron stove

R 33 895

The Atlantic 603 is the model most VlamHaus customers end up choosing. 85% efficiency, a wide viewing glass and a cast-iron body that radiates heat long after the last log has burned down.

Atlantic 613

Taller, wider glass, same cast-iron core

R 39 895

A taller version of the 603 with a larger glass area that puts more of the fire on show. The extra height also lifts the firebox to a more comfortable viewing level in rooms with higher seating.

Atlantic 613R

Corner-facing glass for awkward rooms

R 44 895

The 613R turns the Atlantic into a corner unit, with angled glass that works where a flat-fronted stove would waste the view. A neat answer to rooms where the obvious fireplace wall is already taken.

Adour 800 CLD Freestanding

Corner glass to the right, fans included

R 63 895

A freestanding cast-iron insert with glass on the front and right-hand side, so the fire reads from two directions. Fans are included as standard to push warm air into the room rather than letting it stack at the ceiling.

Adour 800 CLI Freestanding

Corner glass to the left, fans included

R 63 895

The mirror of the CLD — front and left-hand glass. Choosing between CLD and CLI comes down to which way your room opens up, and it is worth getting right before the hearth is built.

Adour 800 CLID Freestanding

Three-sided glass — fire as the centrepiece

R 73 895

Glass on three sides turns the Adour into a room divider rather than a wall feature. It is the version to specify when the fireplace sits between a lounge and a dining area and needs to work from both.

Biarritz

Classic cast iron, honest heat

R 36 895

A traditionally proportioned cast-iron stove with body and inners both cast — the construction that lets a fireplace outlive the house it was installed in. Understated enough to sit in a period home without argument.

Calais

81% efficient with fans as standard

R 54 895

A tall, narrow freestanding unit built for open-plan spaces where floor area is precious. Fans come included, and at 81% efficiency very little of your firewood goes up the flue.

Garde

Clean-lined freestanding heat

R 56 895

The Garde keeps the detailing minimal — a plain steel-and-cast body and a big square of glass. It suits contemporary interiors where a traditionally styled stove would look out of place.

Paris 800 CLID Mural

Wall-hung with three-sided glass

R 64 895

The Paris hangs off the wall rather than standing on the floor, which frees the hearth entirely and makes a small room feel considerably larger. Three-sided glass and fans are included.

Itaca 1000

Vertical sliding door — the showpiece insert

R 134 995
